Hypnosis To Stop Blushing

A Client Who Suffered PTSD & Anxiety Recently Said
“I am so grateful for having hypnotherapy sessions from Mark – I was really suffering with anxiety to the point of having many panic attacks and felt frightened.
I did my research and decided to have 6 sessions and I am so grateful I did.
Mark is a lovely man so understanding which helped me open up and therefore treatment was successful.
I now haven’t had a panic attack – slowed down and said yes to things I wouldn’t of normally done.
I would definitely recommend to friends and family.”
If the echoes of trauma and persistent anxiety are disrupting your life, know that healing is possible. Like the client above, hypnotherapy offers a powerful path towards finding relief and reclaiming a sense of safety and control.
Understanding the Impact of Trauma
Experiences of trauma, including complex trauma and PTSD, can deeply shape our thoughts, beliefs, and how we perceive the world. Often, these experiences create a lens of fear and hypervigilance, leading to anxiety, panic attacks, and a feeling of being constantly on guard.
Rewriting Your Reality After Trauma
“When we change the way we see things, the things we see change” – Wayne Dyer. This is particularly relevant in the context of trauma recovery. Through hypnotherapy, you can gently access a state of focused awareness where you become more receptive to positive suggestions that challenge trauma-related beliefs and anxieties. Importantly, you remain in complete control throughout the process, fully aware and able to bring yourself out of hypnosis at any time.
Hypnotherapy helps to shift the ingrained thought patterns and emotional responses linked to trauma. By working with the subconscious mind, we can begin to reshape the reality created by past experiences, fostering a greater sense of safety and empowerment in the present.

Common Questions about Anxiety & Trauma Recovery
How many sessions will I need to see results?
It varies from client to client. During your free consultation call, we’ll work together to identify your specific goals and what you want to achieve through hypnotherapy for anxiety. Most clients reach their goals within three sessions, and the vast majority notice meaningful improvement after just one session.
Is online hypnotherapy as effective as in-person?
Yes, online hypnotherapy is just as effective as in-person sessions.
Many clients actually find online sessions more convenient and comfortable, since they can participate from the privacy of their own home in a familiar, relaxing environment. Research has shown that virtual therapy sessions produce comparable results to in-person treatment across various therapeutic approaches.
During our free consultation, I’ll make sure online sessions are a good fit for you and answer any questions you have about the process.
Will I lose control or be "put under" during the session?
No, you remain in complete control throughout the entire session. Hypnotherapy is not like the stage hypnosis you might have seen in movies or entertainment shows. You won’t be asleep, unconscious, or under anyone’s control.
Instead, hypnotherapy is a deeply relaxed and focused state. Maybe you can remember times when you were absorbed in a good book or daydreaming. You’ll be aware of everything happening around you, you can hear my voice clearly, and you can choose to accept or reject any suggestions. You can speak, move, or open your eyes whenever you want.
Think of it as guided meditation or deep relaxation where you’re working collaboratively with me to achieve your goals. You’re always the one in the driver’s seat.

Understanding the Root Cause
How does narcissistic abuse lead to chronic anxiety?
Narcissistic abuse creates a prolonged state of unpredictability and emotional chaos that keeps your nervous system in constant high alert. Over time, this can develop into chronic anxiety.
Common patterns that contribute to anxiety include:
Hypervigilance – You learned to constantly monitor the abuser’s mood and behavior to protect yourself, and your body may still be scanning for threats even after the relationship has ended.
Walking on eggshells – The unpredictable nature of narcissistic abuse—where something was acceptable one day but punished the next—creates ongoing uncertainty and fear of making mistakes.
Gaslighting and self-doubt – Being repeatedly told your perceptions and feelings were wrong can leave you second-guessing yourself constantly, which is mentally and emotionally exhausting.
Loss of safety – When someone who claimed to love you was actually a source of harm, it can shatter your sense of safety in relationships and the world in general.
Trauma responses – Your body may remain in a state of fight-or-flight long after the abuse has ended, leading to physical symptoms like racing heart, tension, and difficulty relaxing.
The good news is that hypnotherapy can help retrain your nervous system, rebuild your sense of safety, and reduce the anxiety that stems from narcissistic abuse.
What is the main difference between general anxiety and PTSD?
While both conditions involve anxiety, the key difference lies in their origin and how they manifest.
General anxiety typically involves persistent worry about future events, everyday situations, or multiple aspects of life. The underlying causes may not always be obvious—they could stem from childhood experiences, growing up without the emotional support you needed, or other formative events that shaped how your nervous system responds to stress. It often feels like a constant background hum of unease or “what if” thinking.
PTSD, on the other hand, develops in response to specific traumatic events that your mind recognizes as trauma. The anxiety is rooted in the past but intrudes into the present through flashbacks, nightmares, or intense reactions to reminders of the trauma. Your nervous system essentially gets stuck in survival mode, reacting as if the danger is still present even when you’re safe.
Key distinctions:
- PTSD often involves re-experiencing the trauma (flashbacks, nightmares, intrusive thoughts)
- PTSD typically includes avoidance of trauma reminders
- PTSD can cause emotional numbness or detachment, not just anxiety
- PTSD may involve hypervigilance specifically related to the traumatic experience
In my experience, most anxiety has roots in past experiences, whether or not we initially recognize them as traumatic. The good news is that healing is possible, and it’s not about blaming anyone—it’s about understanding how your past shaped your present and creating new patterns that serve you better.
During your free consultation, we can explore what’s underlying your anxiety and discuss how hypnotherapy can help you find relief.
Do you use regression techniques?
Rarely. Even when working with inner child healing, I use hypnotic methods that allow you to connect with your inner child and heal emotional wounds without needing to revisit or relive the past in detail.
This approach is gentler and often more effective. Rather than taking you back through painful memories, we work directly with your subconscious mind to create healing and resolution in the present moment. You can experience profound transformation without the distress that can come from replaying traumatic events.
This method is particularly helpful for clients who feel anxious about “going back” to difficult times or who have concerns about being retraumatized during therapy.
Do you always target trauma to help clients overcome anxiety?
Not at all. While understanding the roots of anxiety can be helpful, we don’t always need to focus on past trauma to create meaningful change. By shifting your behaviors and thought patterns in the present, we actually create new neural pathways that support the person you want to become.
One of the powerful benefits of hypnosis is that your mind cannot tell the difference between real and vividly imagined experiences. This means that simply by imagining yourself as calm, confident, and in control and experiencing that state during hypnosis, you begin to rewire your brain and embody that new version of yourself.
Many clients find relief through this forward-focused approach, building new patterns of thinking and responding rather than spending extensive time processing the past. We’ll work together to find the approach that feels right for you and your goals. I talk more about this on the anxiety relief page.
